Brisk Stand, Kamakura ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hiro and I went to Kamakura to check out a few shrines we hadn’t seen yet, but our real mission was burgers. We’ve been on a personal quest to rate the best burgers in Japan, and Brisk Stand was high on our list. It didn’t disappoint.
The burgers here are served in halves, almost like sliders, which is both practical and fun — easy to share and perfect for trying more than one flavor. I went for the double cheeseburger set, and it hit all the right notes: juicy patties, melted cheese, fresh grilled onions, and a bun toasted just right. The side potatoes, lightly salted and crispy, were a nice upgrade from standard fries.
The menu is creative, with options like gorgonzola, pineapple, and teriyaki burgers — choices that make you want to come back just to experiment. Hiro and I always joke about designing a “heart attack burger” — a quad-cheese, quad-patty stack loaded with bacon, pastrami, grilled onions, and then (for Japan) tempura-battered and deep-fried. Every time I bring it up, Hiro laughs, but Brisk Stand gets close in spirit with their inventive menu.
🍔 Atmosphere: 5/5 — relaxed, modern, and a nice escape from Kamakura’s busy streets. 🍔 Food: 5/5 — quality, creativity, and satisfaction in every bite. 🍔 Tip: Order different burgers with friends and share — you’ll want to taste more than one.
For anyone exploring Kamakura’s temples and history, Brisk Stand makes a memorable, offbeat stop. For Hiro and me, it’s now part of our ongoing “burger challenge” — and a strong contender for the top spot in Japan. I especially liked the unique half-cut serving style; I’d love to know the story behind that choice from...
Read moreMy family and I ordered a kako burger and a yuzu-kosho burger. The burger bun is at least 2 days old, reheated and dry! I couldn't tell what was in the minced meat, but I couldn't even chew!!! The taste of the cocoa burger is, well, unspeakably bad! My wife had a yuzu-kosho buger and the quality of the ingredients was the same here. We've never had such a bad hamburger anywhere. The fried potatoes were also inedible. It was swimming in oil, half fried. disgusting! We left the whole thing, it was inedible!! The soft drink is what was really good! Since it is in a place frequented by tourists, you have to pay in advance, because once you bite into it, you don't pay! Sorry, but we expected very good food for that price. We asked the locals where we should go for a good meal after that, the answer was that the dragon burger is definitely not!!! The locals do not...
Read moreWe came to Japan on a group tour with EF Tours - the food they had arranged so far had been really disappointing, so we were all hungry and really looking for something hot and delicious and familiar but not an American brand that we could get at home.
This place was EXACTLY what we needed. The host was very helpful and understanding of our limited Japanese, and have me his personal recommendation (as well as the restaurant recommendation) to get the blue cheese burger. It was SO GOOD. Hot, fresh, flavorful, satisfying, but still felt like I was trying something new in a new country. It also arrived quickly. Will definitely recommend this to friends and come back on my next visit to Japan (this time on my own without a...
