I arrived in Kamakura today and the host of my accommodation recommended this restaurant for dinner. The staff here are extremely helpful and welcoming. I ordered the Gotoku Yakisoba and the ingredients were brought out right away. The staff gave me instructions on how to prepare the dish properly on the grill. I am not fluent in Japanese but there is an English menu and the staff knew some English. I used my basic Japanese whenever possible and they seemed to appreciate it and often smiled. The Yakisoba was delicious and reminded me of a home cooked meal. I especially liked the bits of meat that got crispy on the grill while eating. Several toppings are also provided. The portion size was large enough to fully satisfy me despite having missed lunch. The interior of the restaurant is clean and has a good atmosphere, with much of the seating overlooking the street. Finally, the price was cheap at 950 Yen. Overall, I had an amazing dinner and...

A cozy, family-run okonomiyaki restaurant where you cook your own savory pancakes at the table

The Good Authentic DIY okonomiyaki experience with table griddles Friendly owners who patiently guide first-timers Fresh, high-quality ingredients (try the seafood mix) Reasonable prices (around „1,000-1,500 per pancake) Charming old-school atmosphere

The Not-So-Good Small space (only a few tables) - may need to wait Cooking can feel challenging for complete beginners Limited English menu (but owners try to help)

Best For Couples/friends wanting interactive dining Trying real Kansai-style okonomiyaki Casual, memorable meals Late lunches (less crowded than dinner)

Final Thoughts More than just food - a fun, delicious cultural experience. The owners' warmth and the perfectly crisp-yet-fluffy pancakes make this hidden gem...

Came here for lunch while visiting Kamakura. It's a few minutes walk from Hase station. It's a hidden gem as it's easy to miss and the restaurant is on the second floor.

There's a few options of sitting at a table and ordering off the menu. In this way, they cook everything in the kitchen and bring the cooked food to you. There's also the option of cooking your own food at the grill on each table. This was much more fun as you just order the dish, then they bring all the ingredients to cook yourself. Of course, they'll give you tips and advice if you need help. Picked about 5 different dishes and all were fun to cook, but my favorite was the Okonomiyaki.

Fun experience with both great food...

The owner of this restaurant was so kind. It didn’t matter that we were foreigners, all she cared about was her guests having a good experience. On the night we were there, there was one member of staff who spoke fluent English. There were Japanese guests in the restaurant that night too. Not all guests have experience making their own okonomiyaki, so the team does walk around to make sure things aren’t going poorly. Simple menu. Have options for pescatarians and vegetarians! They even brought out peanut oil for cooking when we told them - even though we were ok to use the recommended lard/ pork fat. Small restaurant so go early!
