割烹 魚常 — Restaurant in Kanazawa

We are happy to find out that we don't need reservations to eat here. We don't speak Japanese, but the staff there were super friendly and made us feel warmly welcomed. They only have a Japanese menu, but the owner recommended tempura and sashimi set menu for us. Both are extremely good. I would say the tempura was comparable to some of the fancy tempura restaurants we had in New York city. Sashimi was very fresh and in good quality. The shrimp was so sweet. We also ordered a grilled yellow tail neck, the skin was crispy and the flesh was flavorful and juicy. We also had two bottles of warm sake, soda, and the price was extremely reasonable! Ich war mit meiner Mutter u. Schwester hier Abend essen. Ich war zu Besuch in Japan u. meine Schwester hat sich dieses Restaurant ausgesucht, als wir in Kanazawa war. Sie hat sich bei der Reservierung mit dem Datum geirrt u. wir hätten beinahe keinen Tisch mehr bekommen! 🤣 Gott sei Dank war noch einen Tisch frei! 👍🏻 Die Chefin/Besitzerin/おかみさん war so herzlich, unterhaltsam u. lustig. Wir kamen vor lauter Lachen nicht zum Essen! 🤣 おかみさん führt wohl bereits über 50 Jahren das Restaurant u. müsste über 80 sein?! Ihr Mann sei gestorben u. führt sie das Restaurant jetzt mit ihrem Sohn (Koch) u. Schwiegertochter zusammen. Anscheinend harmoniert die Zusammenarbeit sehr?! Das Essen war natürlich auch köstlich! Ich bestellte zum ersten Mal 梅酒 u. das war so lecker u. ich war nicht betrunken! Normalerweise trinke ich keinen Alkohol, aber die Atmosphäre an diesem Abend brachte mir dazu. 😏 Ich hätte gern noch länger geblieben u. mit おかみさん unterhalten, aber meine Mutter (95) konnte nicht mehr u. wir mussten leider das Restaurant verlassen. 😩 Ich würde gern das Restaurant/おかみさん wieder besuchen, wenn ich nächstes Jahr in Japan bin, aber es ist leider sehr weit v. Shizuoka/静岡 entfernt. (4 Std. Fahrt mit dem Zug!)

This was one of the most delightful dinners we’ve had in Japan, and we’ve eaten at Michelin rated restaurants. The food is excellent but unfussy, the dishes are beautifully arranged and the atmosphere was cozy and tasteful. Also, the lady who served our meal was a delight. She made us laugh!
