A lovely tea shop in Kanazawa’s tea street district with a warm, traditional vibe. The décor is cozy and gives you the feeling of a classic Japanese tea house. Their taiyaki comes in three flavors, and the custard one is especially delicious. You can even enjoy an ice cream–taiyaki burger, which is a fun and tasty combo. They also serve Kanazawa local coffee, which has a rich aroma and an amazing taste — one of the best I’ve had. The shop owner is very friendly; they asked where I was from and even learned how to say “thank you” in Myanmar, writing it down in the shop. It felt really welcoming. On top of that, they offer a free stamp for visitors and have small handmade souvenirs for sale. A charming place to enjoy a break, try local flavors, and feel truly at home. Highly...

A Wonderful Find in Kanazawa!
While strolling from the beautiful Higashi Chaya District towards Kenrokuen Garden, I happened to find a charming shop called "Takamiya" just one street off the main path. What struck me the most was the bright and cheerful energy of the staff. Drawn in by the pleasant atmosphere, I decided to stop by on a whim. I ordered their cute "Hyakuman-yaki" for takeout, which is shaped like Ishikawa Prefecture's mascot, Hyakuman-san. I chose the classic "Anko" (red bean paste) and the "Soy Milk Rare Cheese," as my partner loves anything with soy milk. The anko filling, which they source from a famous local shop called "Sanada Seian," had an elegant sweetness and an authentic, rich bean flavor. It wasn't overly sweet, making it a perfect, gentle treat for a tired body after a long walk. The "Soy Milk Rare Cheese" was a completely new sensation! It was as smooth as custard but had a light, refreshing aftertaste—it's addictively delicious. The cake itself was also exquisite, with a crispy outside and a fluffy inside, a texture that sets it apart from typical obanyaki (imagawayaki). The shop's atmosphere is also wonderful, as it's located in a renovated 150-year-old machiya (traditional townhouse). It's the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious sweet while soaking in the history of Kanazawa. Thanks to the staff's warm service and the delicious Hyakuman-yaki, our trip to Kanazawa became even more memorable. If you're visiting the Higashi Chaya District, I highly recommend...
