An underrated hidden gem ran by a local couple for over 50 years. I decided to go for the tonkatsu ramen as it was something unique which combined two things I love. While I was waiting for my order, the owner came in and we began a conversation about life and Kumamoto with each other using Google Translate which highlights the hospitality of the Japanese people.
When my order arrived, it was a work of art. The broth has an extremely hearty, rich and deep flavor enhanced by the aromatic roasted garlic oil which is a testament to the years of experience in making tonkotsu. The tonkatsu was no slouch as the interior was soft like butter while the exterior retained its crispiness even though it was submerged in the broth.
