A true gem, and indicative of the high-quality sushi and soba noodles to be had on Kyushu. There were 4 sets, so be aware that the deluxe sushi choice had only 6 or 8 pieces b/c those fish are more expensive (my tempera/sushi set had more food, with little dishes of other things as well). It looked so good I forgot to take a picture before pouncing on it. They make their own soba, and it was perfectly chewy and tasty. It was one of our best meals in a week of eating amazing meals all over Kyushu!
I stumbled upon Uoyoshi in Kumamoto during a quick trip, and wow, it’s a gem! The sushi was hands down some of the freshest I’ve ever had, with the grilled conger eel being a total standout.
The atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming, like dining at a friend’s place, and the chef was super friendly, making the whole experience even better.
