Our experience at the Taphouse in Niseko was deeply disappointing. Despite spending ¥6,000 per head on drinks and snacks, our satisfaction plummeted when they sprang a ¥3,000 'cancellation fee' upon us as we were leaving, conveniently omitting this crucial detail upon our arrival. Attempts to discuss this with the owner were met with refusal, and the card on the booking was charged as soon as we landed home - convenient.

The lack of flexibility is disheartening, especially considering the circumstances surrounding our missing party member. If he had joined us, despite feeling poorly, spreading his symptoms and just drinking tap water all night, what that have been acceptable?

Additionally, the cramped seating arrangement for 9 in a corridor and the misleading portrayal of substantial meals on Google, only to be served with 'picky bits' like cheese sticks and olives, left us feeling misled and frustrated.

Had a nice drink and nibble in Taproom last week until the bill came. We had booked a party of 10, however one guest was sick so only 9 showed. The area we were given did not matter whether 9 or 10 were sat there. Given we spent over 50,00 yen, I was both surprised and shocked to still be asked to pay a 3,000 yen cancellation charge for the one missing guest. This is stated in their booking conditions, however I think some common sense should be applied in instances like this as it completely soured our experience. Great little local taproom with a selection of local craft beers! Would have gotten 5 stars if the food was the same quality we experienced on our first visit the day before. The chicken and fish and chips were excellent. So much so we decided to go back again the next day. Unfortunately, the chicken was super dry and not moist like it was the previous day and the fish and chips were also just okay vs the day prior light, crispy, and not overly fishy.
