10/10 experience! We were looking on google maps for a quick coffee stop in between visiting temples, and found this caffe on our way. It had few but good reviews, so we decided to go in. We are so glad we did! We were the only ones there at the time, so the owner set us at the table in the tatami room, and even gave us a little privacy separator! The owner is a sweet lady that runs the caffe un her house, and takes so much pride in it! She is also very attentive and nice, and explained to us everything on the menu, about the ingredients, about the tea and tea ceremony, about religion and kyoto, about her house and how it's decorated. Absolutely amazing experience! We loved everything! The ambiance 10/10 - we felt as if we were guest in her home, in a very traditional room and house! The food 10/10 - we had the honey frech toast and a dish with egg french toast (not sure of the names, but posted a picture), and they were both DELICIOUS! The owner's daughter was the one doing the cooking, and it was done all fresh on the spot. You could tell the ingredients were all super fresh, especially the eggs! The information we received 10/10 - learned a lot about the house and articles from the house; about Kyoto; about religion; about origami; about the ingredients used in the food; the tea used in the tea ceremony - we did not end up doing this because we do not drink green tea, but for tea lovers please do this! The owner and her family 10/10 - the owner and her daughter were so nice and sweet! The owner created such a great experience that ir felt we were visiting family! She even showed us how to make origami samurai hats and took pictures of us with their sword, and she even brought down her own kimono for me to take a photo in it! It was such a sweet gesture on top of the great service and experience. She even came with us to a nearby temple she told us about, and showed us around there! So if you are ever in Kyoto and in the area, please visit this caffe! It is 100% worth it! You will get great food, great service, and an amazing experience! Will visit again in the future when we visit Kyoto!

Yo, welcome to Marusan, where the zen vibes hum, Nestled in Kyoto's backstreets, come and get some. It's a matcha experience, ain't no need to roam, Step inside, leave behind your busy, noisy home. Powder leaf teas, they be servin' it right, Sip on that green, feelin' calm and light. Music's on point, transformin' like a monk, Super chill, quiet, ain't no need to flunk. A break from the chaos, a vacation it seems, Marusan's got the magic to fulfill your dreams. Gallery vibes, art hangin' on the wall, Come to Marusan, you gon' have a ball! Kyoto's heart, where the culture runs deep, Marusan Cafe's the place where you find peace and sweet treats. From the first sip of matcha to the last beat of the tune, Marusan's got you covered, mornin' to afternoon. 💥 Peace, love, and matcha, that's the Marusan way, Come find your zen and the golden drop at Marusan Cafe. 🍵

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this charming tea shop in Kyoto. The owner was incredibly welcoming and gracious, making us feel right at home. She offered us a beautiful and authentic tea ceremony, which was both peaceful and memorable. The sweets served alongside the tea were absolutely delicious and complemented the flavors perfectly. One of the highlights was being able to choose our own cup and teapot from a lovely, curated selection—such a thoughtful and unique touch! The atmosphere of the shop was warm and inviting, blending tradition with a cozy elegance. To top it all off, the owner kindly showed us a nearby temple, adding even more depth to our visit. Truly an unforgettable experience—we highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Kyoto!
