Wanted to eat at Mister Gyoza across the street but it was closed. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise cause I stumbled upon this cosy little joint.
It’s run by a lovely couple whose food screams “homemade” in the best possible way. I got the chicken nanban set meal and was so impressed that I had to order another side dish - I went for the potato croquettes and they were huge! I think they gave me the regular portion that you get when you order the croquette set meal, which means I esssentially had two main courses for dinner.
I was concerned about their policy of allowing smoking indoors, and midway through the meal, one of the diners lit up a cigarette. Strangely, however hard I tried, I couldn’t smell anything at all even though he was just two seats away. I guess they have an effective ventilation system!

There’s no English menu and it’s cash only but the lady owner was very accommodating and patient. The food is okay, can be very salty, not particularly special other than the grilled stuff. Definitely try the beef rib, beef and chicken tendons, agadeshi tofu.. we only had one miss and that was the squid appetiser (can’t quite recall the name or description in Japanese), but everything was ON POINT. 100% going back.
