2ème MAISON — Restaurant in Kyoto

I came on a weekday around 7 PM. At that time, there weren’t many people in the restaurant.

I live nearby, so this place has always been on my wishlist—but after eating here, I don’t think I’ll come back.

I came with my friend and we ordered gratin, steak with fries, and sangria. The menu was just kanji printed on an A4 sheet of paper, with no pictures or explanations, so I had to check online to see what the dishes looked like.

After ordering, our drinks came pretty quickly, but then we had to wait. A staff member told us that since we ordered main dishes, it would take a while. Still, after 30 minutes no food came. It wasn’t until almost an hour later that the gratin finally arrived. I looked around and noticed that guests who came in after us were already getting their food, but not us.

We finally got our steak at around 8:30 PM, and the sangria already tasted like water. The staff only said it was because there were many orders, and apologized—but when we arrived, only about three tables were filled. So I really don’t understand the reason for the delay.

Overall, I definitely won’t be coming back. It’s not worth the long wait, and the food isn’t cheap either. Also, please update your menu—it looks cheap and like no effort was put into it. Include some...

So we came in expecting a fairly cheap meal . The fries and roast beef should have been around 1900Yen without Tax. But they force you to buy a drink so another 700 - you literally cant order water at least that’s what she told us. Anyway the roast beef was out so I wanted the chicken - they didnt have that either. So the only thing left was steak which had a side included in the price 2800Yen. When it arrived I got an extra portion of fries I didn’t want. Anyway except for that the overpriced hamburger tasted like nothing and neither did the sauce - cheapest of cheap meat with no flavor. Anyway after a bad meal and paying double of what was expected after reading the menu I am very disappointed

Didn't specify on google maps that this was an izekaya and not a restaurant, so you're obligated to buy a drink there. I paid 800 yen for a glass of orange juice that was 80% ice cubes, which was a bit bummer, but I didn't mind too much. I bought the japanese steak, the quality wasn't very impressive, but it was still a good quality steak that was perfectly cooked. It was a bit more expensive than I expected. Only found out after paying that taxes were not included in the price. Altogether, I paid a little over 5000yen for a decent steak with fries and a small glass of orange juice.
