Most place in Japan are difficult to find especially for Indian tourists as we are used to specific floor and landmarks in our address. We went back and forth even after using the Google maps before we realized the restaurant was on the 3rd floor. The indian flag hoisted on the ground floor near the steps did help.
We ordered Palak Paneer, Baingan Bharta, Garlic Naan, Butter Naan, Cachoomer Salad, Roasted Papad & Pickle.
Garlic Naan was better than the Butter Naan & was duly informed by the staff. The Baingan Bharta was good, however, the Palak Paneer only had 4 small pieces of Paneer which is primarily the reason for a 3.5 star instead of a full 4 star. I just wish they can increase the quantity and quality. They were anyway charging extra for onion salad, pickle, papad etc and could have increased the quantity of the main dish.
Prices were higher but Kyoto is anyway an expensive city compared to the rest of Japan. And vegetarian choices are limited anyway in Japan and thus the Indian Restaurants are doing a good job and anyway need to...
Read moreThe water was the tastiest thing on the menu! That just shows how unimpressed I was with the food. The staff were very arrogant and the food itself was very mediocre at best. I had the vegetable Thali and I would recommend you make it at home even if you don’t know how to cook. At least, that way you won’t feel like you got swindled. I felt embarrassed to be a person of Indian origin that allowed this horrendous food to touch my holy taste buds. After eating this food, I am jealous of the people who took part in the #drinkbleach challenge. My recently deceased grandmother’s ashes were poured into the Ganga river (varanasi). I think she would fly to japan like sandman and slap me. Thats how disappointed she would be to know that I ate at this restaurant. I think restaurants like this show the despicability of the human species. I solely blame this restaurant for the declining Japanese economy.
P.S the only redeemable quality of the restaurant was that the server was nice. I feel bad that he has to work at this restaurant. He seems...
Read moreAfter 2 weeks of Japanese food we arrived in Kyoto and thought an Indian curry would make a nice change for dinner. Having read the reviews, and with a 4.2 rating in google we were expecting some delicious curries however the whole experience was very underwhelming. The staff were unenthusiastic and service was very average. Other reviewers noted the staff asking about level of heat in the curry but no such inquiry for us. Our waiter sounded like he was trying to hack up a some phlegm as he walked away from the table!! Out of stock on the beer I wanted as well as most of the wine on the menu. I ordered the butter chicken which was full of bony cuts of chicken with little to no meat on the bones. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars for food was because the sauce on the chicken was tasty and helped make the dry rice palatable, but still not what I was expecting and overpriced for what we got. Can’t always trust a google rating. Disappointing!! Hope this review helps...
