Ikiteiru Coffee — Restaurant in Kyoto

This is an old-style Japanese kissaten. I came here because I wanted to try their kopi luwak coffee and I was not disappointed at all. It had great complexity, aroma and a spicy after-taste. It was expensive (2000 Yen), so I wouldn’t drink it again, but it was a good experience. But what is the point of drinking expensive specialty coffee when it smells of tobacco in this place? There is a smoking section in the other end of the cafe, not sealed shut, but pretty open. I detected this smell right when I entered the place. Ikiteiru Coffee is a charming retro-style kissaten tucked away on the B1 floor—such a hidden gem! It’s a very calm and relaxing spot, perfect for taking a break. We had the Blue Mountain coffee and coffee with milk, both of which were smooth and enjoyable.
