Scam. I would not recommend going to this restaurant. I ordered a uni and tuna mix Don. On the pictures it was around 70% uni and 4 slices of tuna. The bowl I received was the complete inverse where it was 70% tuna and a few small pieces of uni. Uni is expensive and so I paid 3800 yen expecting a good uni Don, it was not. Look at the 3800 yen Don on their menu and tell me if what I received was anything like that.
Furthermore, the tuna was not fresh and didn't taste good. I couldn't even finish the sea urchin. It was not fresh and had a really strong flavour, borderline alkaline taste, trust me, I've had my fair share of uni and this was the worst
The food not being fresh and tasting off is one thing, but to actively scam and give a bowl different to what is advertised is unacceptable.
They prey on tourists hoping they wouldn't speak up. This was my last meal in Japan and disappointment can't even be used to describe my experience.
Oh yeah, their miso soup is way too salty and not drinkable.
Judging from reviews from other people, it's a common theme where what is presented is different to the photos.
I don't wish any business to deteriorate but I also respect people's wallets. If the business is unwilling to change despite numerous responses saying they take our feedback then I hope my review may deter others...
Read moreThis restaurant is a great place to stop and have a bite while walking through the Nishiki market!
It has some food stands outside, selling oysters and fried food like tempura. You have the option to dine in, or take away. The staff were very nice, and knew some English, which was great for communication. We were quickly guided to a table and the ordering process was explained by the staff.
You order via QR-code at your table, then pay afterwards. The drinks we ordered arrived very quickly, as well as the food. The dishes were delicious, and full of rich flavours. I highly recommend the Eel and tempura bowl.
Overall, a bit crowded location, but a great place to stop for lunch or a quick ite while in...
Read moreThe restaurant displays a full platter of sashimi don at its door and the sign was very enticing. I chose a relatively pricey selection, and the sashimi don came out in a much smaller proportion than I imagined when i looked at the big sign at the door. The sashimi was of fair quality, not too bad, but I was hoping for better since the seafood at Nishiki Market is meant to be freshly slaughtered from the catch. The uni had the right buttery texture but the taste was lacking sweetness. I think doing sashimi at the Nishiki Market is perhaps a must, but maybe buying a packaged box with a few pieces of your favorite fish would do, instead of sitting down at the seafood...
