We came here May 2024 during our honey moon. My husband had been looking for selvedge denim and found it here! We always say that although items can have great quality, the customer service is what makes it stand out. And that is 100% true about Japan Blue Jeans. Rio was kind, funny, and very helpful in helping my husband find his pair of pants (which he wears every other day lol). He was so willing to answer my husband’s questions and provide information about where each jean came from. In fact, he was so personable and the store was so organized and clean, that I asked him if there would be anything for myself. And I found the perfect pair of cargo jeans. As you know, sizes run different in Japan and I was feeling discouraged that I wouldn’t find anything. However, this was the first place in Japan that didn’t make me feel this way because I found my perfect pair easily. We wore this jeans all over Kyoto after we bought them. Read about this place on Reddit when searching for denim shops in Kyoto but randomly ran into it while browsing around the Nishiki Market area. Yay~ what a find. Despite the size, the store has plenty of options and different styles and colors of jeans, shirts, and jean jackets. The sales person was friendly, made suggestions, and offered to hem the length on the spot if I needed it. There is a good sized fitting room for trying on items. You can immediately tell the quality of the denim just by touching it - it's nothing like what you find in the States. The quality of the denim is great, and they come in several colours, weight, and styles. The fit of the jeans are a little on the smaller side, so if anyone wants a pair, they'll probably have to go a few sizes up from their usual sizes. The staff was AMAZING. Daiki Marita (the staff who was assisting me) engaged my family and I in a very pleasant conversation (In Japanese), all while giving EXCELLENT SERVICE. He listened to my wants, and did his very best to find me the best pair of jeans that could fit me well. Super patient, super kind, and super dedicated to getting you that denim fit.
