Lion Bakery — Restaurant in Kyoto

My husband and I loved this little bakery! We tried a variety of buns throughout our time in Kyoto and enjoyed them all! The matcha bun was our favorite. 10/10, highly recommend! The bun was soft and the matcha cream inside was delicious! We went back a third time just to get matcha buns again before we left.

I had a matcha latte as well; they don't skimp on the matcha - it had a very strong matcha flavor, which I appreciated! As for savory buns, I enjoyed the hot dog bun with basil and cheese. My husband also enjoyed the custard bun.

It's located very close to the Nijo station, which is super convenient, as you can grab a quick bite before your adventures in Kyoto.

Absolutely amazing bakery! They have many options and every single thing tastes delicious. My favorites were the chocolate donut, which is a donut stuffed with chocolate mousse, and the chicken curry bun, which is a bun stuffed with chicken curry and fried on the outside. We also enjoyed the regular donut and the apple and cinnamon pastry. We came here twice during our 3 day trip. I wish we were in Kyoto for longer so that we could go to this...

Great little bakery. Smells amazing as soon as you walk in and greated with a smile by the most wonderful people. We got our breakfast here every morning for the 4 days we were in Kyoto.
