Calm Castle Hotel Nijo is a fantastic place to stay, offering both comfort and convenience. The hotel is located just 600 meters from the nearest subway station and close to a convenience store, making it an ideal base for exploring Kyoto. Its central location is perfect for visiting most of the nearby attractions, which I was able to cover during my four-day stay.
One of the great features of the hotel is the kitchen on the ground floor, which allows guests to prepare their own meals—a wonderful option for those who enjoy cooking or prefer a more budget-friendly stay.
The rooms are clean, well-maintained, and provide everything you need for a comfortable visit. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant experience throughout your stay.
The only challenge I faced was initially finding the hotel on Google Maps due to the difference in the name listed on Booking.com (Miro Kyoto Nijo Hotel). However, once I located it, everything went smoothly.
Overall, Calm Castle Hotel Nijo offers a great combination of location, amenities, and service, making it an excellent choice for anyone...
Read moreBe careful, this is not a 4-star hotel, I believe this is a 2-star guest house. We had a very disappointed stay, the room size is considerable smaller than the described and showed in the pictures (there is not space between beds and it is imposible to open a small suitcase). The room was dirty and we could not reach someone from the hotel to help us (they even don’t answer the hotel emergency phone). We arrived around 11 PM and we should do self check-in because was nobody in the reception after 10:00 PM). The self check-in was not a problem, we got instructions by email, but when we enter to the room, the toilet was dirty, and we found hairs in one of the beds (was very dirty behind the beds, I had the impression that nobody really clean our room before we arrived). Considering that was nobody in the hotel, and nobody answer the emergency hotel phone, we could not ask to someone to change our room for a clean one. We got a partial refund for the problems, but I believe that not compensate the bad moment (Trip.con customer service team help us...
Read moreA hotel with potential but unfortunately many details could’ve been improved.
Pros: Cheap Bathroom bigger than normals Japanese hotels Free coffee and tea Free laundry machines
Cons: Poor organization ( arriving at late hour, we were informed by mail our room key would be at the counter desk in a envelope, but when we arrived it wasn’t the case, there were only 3 keys left for us to guess which one was ours 😓) Dirty, the cleaning was not done properly. The toilet was dirty, hair on the bathtub and on the sheets, that was very very disappointing…. Non existing staff and even we would meet on the hotel, the attitude was cold as we earn her money, so rude, smiling is free 😤
It could’ve been so much better with a little more effort, it’s a shame we don’t...
