KUMONOCHA Kiyomizu Sannenzaka — Restaurant in Kyoto

There was no wait when we arrived. We ordered the Kumono set and the Cha-Samadhi set. Our order was given to us in under a minute.

There was very limited seating, but we were able to grab someone's table as they were leaving and luckily did not have to wait.

The grape green tea soda was very light and reminded me of a seltzer in the United States. I wish it was more flavorful, but it was certainly refreshing, especially since it was a hot summer day. The hojicha iced latte was solid. I did not like the cloud mousse cake. I did not like the taste of the combination of the red bean, mousse, and cake. The matcha pound cake was good but I wish it were a little sweeter. My favorite part of the meal was the sencha ice cream. The tea flavor was very strong and overall very refreshing.

Disappointing experience due to poor customer service.

We came here and ordered, enjoyed our food, and were polite — said thank you when leaving. Instead of any acknowledgment, we got glared at, which was really confusing. Apparently, it was because part of our group hadn’t put the cups away straight away (though we did put them away in the end).

What’s frustrating is that no one told us about this when we ordered, and if it was such an issue, the staff could have kindly mentioned it as we were getting ready to leave. Just glaring at customers without saying anything felt unnecessarily rude. A little communication would have made all...

a lovely little cafe, with cutie mousse cake, tea latte as their signatures. i was soooo lucky to walk in and there were some seats! not long after i was seated, the shop was then full of people and a long queue! i got a seasonal limited mousse cake, it's for the year of rabbit, so cute! it's with black sesame flavour. it's a set so i picked a green tea latte. there's also hojicha latte to chose from, cold or hot. no doubt we needed a hot one it was too cold out there and was snowing. the outdoor resting area was nice too, with lots of laterns, definitely a great place for photo-taking!
