What a fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, we felt the attention paid to offer excellent service and food. The meal starts with a cup of savory Sakura tea, a perfect match with the bloom that can be seen outside the window from the second floor seating. The food presentation, pleasing to the eye, is pretty and very Instagrammable. The taste is delicate. We get to taste different dishes all in one set.
The spacious tatami room, decorated with a gilded coromandel, is the cherry on top of the whole experience.

Checking in at Kyotoâs century-old restaurant â Rokusei! ð±âš
Founded in 1899 (Meiji Year 22), this restaurant boasts over 120 years of history. Its signature dish, the âTeoke Bento,â is nothing short of a work of art. Designed by the second-generation owner, it features seasonal fresh ingredients meticulously prepared and served in handcrafted wooden buckets made by Living National Treasure Nakagawa Kiyoshi. Itâs a feast of seasonal flavors and heartfelt craftsmanship! At first, I wondered what could be special about a bento, but after tasting it, I realized no extravagant or exotic ingredients could compare to the simple beauty of fresh seasonal produce.
As for dessert, the soufflé ã¹ãã¬, though originally a French invention, is a perfect balanceânot overly sweet like its Western counterparts. The rich aroma of eggs lingers on the palate, leaving a lasting impression.
If youâre visiting Kyoto, donât miss out on this authentic Kyoto cuisine...
