A coffee focused third wave café with expert baristas that roasts their own beans in Osaka. They offer a huge variety of hand drip coffees and usually have two different beans for espresso and latte drinks. One of them is a darker roast, the other a light to medium-light one. They also have oat milk and an option of two basque cheesecakes. The main focus here is the coffee and you should spend a few minutes here to really enjoy your drink. Sit down and take a break.
We tried the dark roast espresso and the special hazelnut latte with oatmilk. My partner liked the latte. I personally found it a bit hard to fully taste the coffee flavors there as they were overshadowed by the oat milk and Nutella. Meanwhile the espresso was flavorful and perfectly balanced with a smooth texture.
Originally we only wanted to pop by for a quick coffee and a cake but ended up staying much longer. The european barista impressed us with his deep knowledge about coffee and it was great fun talking with him about society, post-quantum cryptography and of course coffee. He gave us an in depth introduction to their beans on sale and we ended up bringing two packs home with us. Looking forward to having SOT coffee now...

Tucked away in Tokyo, SOT Coffee is a cozy café with a real focus on quality beans and creative drinks.
☕️ What We Ordered I tried an iced Americano made with light roast beans from Colombia—bright and balanced. We also had their Choco Nuts Latte with oat milk, which comes with Nutella and crushed nuts around the rim of the glass. It was indulgent but not overly sweet—a really nice combo if you’re in the mood for a treat.
🪑 Ambience & Space The vibe is relaxed and minimalist, but do note it’s quite a small space. There are three tables on a tatami area (seats about 6), and four more next to the counter for another 8 people—so a total of around 14 seats. It might not be the best spot for lingering during busy times, but it’s perfect for a quality coffee break.
💳 Good to Know Credit card payment is accepted, which is always a plus in smaller cafés around Japan.
🌿 Overall If you appreciate a good cup and enjoy exploring Tokyo’s café scene, SOT Coffee is worth the stop—just keep in mind the...
Read moreHoly fuck.... This filter coffee is probably the best I've had in the last few years!! It is a Columbian, Los Nogales, roasted by @sotcoffee.jp. The aroma of peach, vanilla and a touch of kinako (soy bean powder), then the complex acidity of caramelised pineapple, and sweetness and intensity of roasted strawberries and peach, with a smooth, lingering finger lime freshness. God damm that is a good coffee.
This cafe is one I've not been to before. It's only been open for a cpl of years apparently. They also have their main cafe near Osaka castle, so if I get time, I certainly want to visit there too.
I also got a takeaway filter coffee, a Columbian Los Cauchos whose aroma makes me want to dive right in... But, I will hold back and drink it later. Smells amazing!!
So glad I found this place. If you ever need to chill out, take your shoes off and relax on a tatami mat while drinking outstanding coffee, this is a great option in Kyoto! #CoffeeHunt...
