Honestly service was fine and the atmosphere was acceptable. The udon on the other hand was not. There was not a good balance of vegetables (namely green onions) and the udon was not special. The beef reminded me of medieval peasant food and was either too fatty or ligament, plus, there wasn’t a lot of it to begin with. My mate got the curry udon and he agrees the fat dissolved into the broth and it was fairly average to above average pricing, although that may have to do with location and such. Finally, the fried food they served was cold and not crispy as it should be.
There are some plus sides to this restaurant - the toppings were free, the fried food was available to see, and the people spoke English and Japanese (as well as ordering guides in English) and were friendly enough, but again, the main part of the restaurant, that being the food, was not up to standard. As a half-Japanese person, this was one of the most sub-par udon places I have been to. I thoroughly believe the price does not reflect the quality of the food.
I have nothing against the people working there, but I disagree with how they make their udon. If you’re looking for a quick feed, this is fine (they serve quickly), but I believe that there are better places with better...
Read moreI ordered the number 1 udon with tempura and my mom ordered the unadon. We also tried some of the tempura which were self-serve from the counter.
Positive: The staff were very friendly and can speak English. The restaurant felt nice and cool compared to the August heat outside. The unadon was tasty. The food arrived very fast. The vegetables and seafood all tasted fresh.
Negative: The udon noodles were too soft for my preference. They break very easily and have a mushy texture. It was difficult for me to finish the bowl because I had issues with the texture.
The tempura were all coated in very thick batter. We tasted many types of tempura and all the pieces were cold, doughy, and greasy. Especially after eating tempura at other restaurants in Japan, I felt that the tempura at this restaurant was not good.
Our table was dirty when we sat down. There were some pieces of food and water left behind from condensation of cups, which means it was not wiped down. The front door was also a little cluttered with bags of flour and didn’t give the best first impression regarding cleanliness.
The pricing at this restaurant is more expensive compared to other restaurants I visited in Kyoto and considering my experience with the food, I don’t recommend...
Read moreBefore entering, I did have a check on google reviews, note of 3.7 actually is quite low. I still would like to try my luck, and I regretted.
Curry beef udon which was with little beef inside, the noodles were over cooked. The tempura were ready to pick as side dish, they were not creepy enough.
The hygiene of the restaurant normally could be reflected by the toilet as well. unfortunately the toilet was a disaster, it’s flooded. Which you can barely to see in other restaurants of the country.
In a word, it’s not a...
