After a truly invigorating climb up the trails of Fushimi Inari, culminating in the 233-meter ascent of Mount Inari-san and the rewarding pilgrimage around the upper shrines, the exceptionally satisfying non-beef Ramen we enjoyed here was a welcome and delicious reward. This hike, undertaken on a beautiful April Sunday morning, proved to be one of the most captivating short walks around Kyoto and undoubtedly the best way to fully experience the entirety of the Fushimi-Inari Taisha Shrine. Descending around 7:30 am, we were already met by burgeoning streams of visitors and numerous organized tour groups, highlighting the popularity of this site. To capture uncrowded photographs and fully appreciate the serene atmosphere, arriving at 7 am or even earlier is highly recommended, especially given the early...
Read moreMy wife wanted to stop by this restaurant as we were walking through.... And I am so very happy that she did! We have been living in Japan for almost 5 months now, and our oldest daughter (10 yrs) is in love with ramen, and I can honestly say this way some of the greatest we've had since being in Japan. The menu is very, very simple... But, the plates were all extremely delicious. My favorite dish since being here is karaage... and this was truly some of the best I've had since being here in Japan.
On top of that, the service was great. The atmosphere of the restaurant is just as simple as the menu. It is a very small establishment which only seats about 10 to 12 at tables and perhaps another four to five at the bar. If we didn't live so far away, I could see myself frequenting this...

I don’t think it was tonkatsu broth, but I’m not sure exactly what it was. We got the spicy option which wasn’t that spicy so if you’re hesitant about getting spicy, go for it! The star of the show IMO was the spicy chicken karaage. Tip: the menu says that you can only order a full spicy karaage dish, but you can order a half size if you ask. I recommend a half size if you’re getting ramen as well. We waited about 10-15 minutes on a Thursday night to get in which wasn’t bad at all. The staff was really friendly and service was quick. I recommend this spot and would go...
