I’ve been to both stores here and in Tokyo near Sky tree. This Kyoto store is SO much better. It does smaller in terms of the size but the selection is better still. The store in Tokyo lacks all soft toys and there was less merch with Howls Moving Castle (there were socks, key chains, a notebook, and a plush Heen). We wanted to buy a Totoro toy, but since we read the reviews that Tokyo store is much better, we decided to go there. When we arrived, the Tokyo store didn’t have anything except for the plush Heen. So I regret not shopping...

Busy little shop! We had gone to the Ghibli shop in Miyajima. I was going to buy a bag there, didn't, and then changed my mind when we came to Kyoto 2 days later. However, the bag here was almost twice the price of in Miyajima! So while the Ghibli merchandise is excellent, it is much more expensive at this location in Kyoto, opposed to in other cities. Keep that in mind if you are going more places in Japan and looking for...

Sitting a few moments down the hill from the Kiyomizu-dera, this shop is a quite trek to get to. There is a small range of merch, set in a shop at the end of a suitably Ghibli-esque pathway. It closes early though: at 17:30 when we were there in August 2023, so get there before then to avoid disappointment.
