Tomo to Tomo ni — Restaurant in Kyoto

Very friendly owner/chef. They spoke both Japanese and Korean, just a little bit of English just enough for us to order our food hahahaha. We needed a break from Japanese food and came here for Korean food. I ordered the miso jiggae with rice as a set meal and an order of seafood pancake to share with my sister. Miso jiggae was salty as expected, but that saltiness builds up as you drink more. I added some kimchi in the miso jiggae for spice and it helped to mask the salty flavor of the soup. The seafood pancake was ginormous and very crispy and tasty. Everything was reasonably priced. I will be back at this restaurant!

Update on May 6, 2023: Currently in Korea and have yet to find another place that can match the crispiness and taste of the seafood pancake. This restaurant really set the standards high. Other restaurants in Korea tend to make the pancakes mushy/soggy and thin. Tomo to tomo ni makes it so crunchy and delicious. I...

Food here is delicious! I haven’t even had anything this good while in Korea or anywhere else! The Miso Jigae and seafood pancake is a ‘Mmmmm’ in heaven with every bite. Seafood pancake is perfectly crispy every single time. Reasonable prices, generous portions and very savory. My sister and I ate here for 8 days straight without missing a single day during this time until the day we left. Owner is so kind and sweet. The food and flavor is just addictive. An adorable madam is cooking in a little restaurant while she talks with the regulars at the counter. I always come with at least 3 people, so we go to the room at the back and sit on the floor while chatting. The cooking is delicious and not expensive for the taste. I tasted Japchae, Teokbeoki, Kimchi Jidae, Fried Chicken and Tail Soup (?) and everything was amazing.
