Tsuzuri Bekkan — Restaurant in Kyoto

Wow this place is such a gem! I got there at 7pm on a Saturday and it was pretty full. The staff told me the food may take long but that definitely wasn’t true. My drinks arrived in minutes and my first appetizer came within 10. They were extremely fast with everything.

Now onto the food: every dish was tasty and I ordered a lot (ajillo even though they use toast here instead of a baguette, chicken and green onions, ebi fried, fried cheese bits, hamburg, and raw crab sashimi). I highly recommend the chicken and green onion even though it’s a simple dish, they executed it really well. The taste of the green onion was highlighted by the ponzu radish sauce they provided.

The portions were fairly big and the prices were fair and I would even say, on the lower side, especially for the amazing quality. We even order 5 drinks and the total was less than 10,000.

Late in the evening, we were wandering the streets looking for a place to have dinner when we stumbled upon this wonderful spot — and it turned out to be one of the best meals we had in Japan! The service was incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. We were told the wait time might be longer, but in reality everything came quite quickly. And the food… was a whole different kind of joy.

We ordered the daily recommendations — the fish and wagyu beef were absolutely stunning: unbelievably tender, flavorful, and just melted in the mouth. Even the rice, something so simple, was so delicious that I was honestly sad when it was gone.

Cannot fault this place at all! Every single dish we ordered came delicious! Highly recommend the special menu: corn tempura, fig tempura (no regrets), grilled squid in butter! The tempura was light so that the taste of the item could really be tasted. The curry rice had a little kick to it and the hamburger dishes were moist and full of flavour! They also came w grilled veggies! There was a grp of 10 locals which made the place loud but it wasn’t over bearing as they kept to themselves and staff made sure we were okay with the situation before being seated :) staff were super friendly and did really well w the language barrier!
