Came by for breakfast before heading to nijojo castle. This places is BOMB. Food was delicious. Drinks were delicious. I have no complaints except for the mini tables which was hard for my 6'3" husband to sit in. But he would 100% suffer through the seats again just to come back for their curry pork katsu. It was cooked perfectly. The pork was fried beautifully with a nice crunchy outside. The pork inside was pretty moist. It was amazing. The curry was also amazing. It was flavorful and complimented the katsu very well.

Regardless, the food was good, egg sandwich features a warm, freshly cooked omelette which is special for breakfasts which Japanese cafes serve in my experience. Curry rice is not spicy and my two year old ate it like a champion. The 6 star experience was the mother suggesting to go next door to feed the ducks and fishes at Shinsen, and giving us old breadcrumbs to do so. Read moreWe came twice, that’s how much we loved the katsu curry and the ladies at Cafe Tyrol. One of the best meals we’ve had in our 5 week tour of Japan in terms of portion size, quality of food, and cost! Definitely authentic, huge portions, and far away from the icky touristy “wagyu” katsu in the center.
Met a most wonderful local who said this is his favourite katsu in Japan because it’s made with love. I must agree. Now having been to many “cafes” that charge double the price for a quarter of the care, I wish we could go back...
