Warawa — Restaurant in Kyoto

The five of us came across this isakaya because it was near the Airbnb where we were staying. The owner does not speak English, but a friendly patron helped us understand the menu and order drinks. The hot sake and other drinks were very good, and the food was delicious and great value - we had small plates of tempura, skewers of various meats / seafood and a stewed offal dish that had daikon radish.

I love this place . The chef didn't want to serve us initially because we are white. But we try to converse in japanese and my young kids can use chopsticks and enjoy green tea. I don't blame the guy for disliking tourists as I was annoyed by them too. Food was alright and booze was just fine. Eventually the chef seemed to take a shine to me and my family.
