I just had my dinner here and I think the food is really amazing. The dishes are definitely not the usual Japanese restaurant/Izakaya food (at least for me) that you can find in Kyoto.

I walked into the restaurant feeling curious about their "straw grilled" duck, sea bream, and chicken (in fact I believe it is smoked, not "straw grilled" due to some translation error), but when I sat down, I was amused by the selection of choice of speciality dishes. I ordered a few to try together with their hot sake, and the experience of my wife and I had was nothing but fantastic. Delicious food, great ambience, and good customer service as well! The waitress took her time to explain every dishes to us and how should we consume it.

Overall price is about: $5,000 - $6,000/ pax with sake.

The only feedback I have is the restaurant's English menu is quite limited, they don't have English menu for sake, so I just asked the waitress to recommended me some. And I also believe the English menu is not the complete translation menu from their Japanese menu.

Nevertheless, the food is great! Highly...

THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. And as unfortunate as it sounds, it’s the truth. The photo I attached to this review is their chicken soup, and mind you, this was two servings designed for two persons, and priced at ¥2400 per serving, meaning this was ¥4800 before tax…..

I literally had to ask the waiter twice, with the translator app because nobody here speaks English, if they added salt to the broth, this was how much I ended up not trusting this restaurant. The food was extremely plain, and the meat wasn’t the freshest, and everything super over priced. Empty palce took forever to be cleaned off the table. The waiter even forgot to give us bowls. Last thing, you’re forced to pay for the appetizer which you would had initially had thought was free, ¥500 for 2 tiny slices of beef.

Overall: Environment: 5/10 Service: 1/10 Food quality: 3/10 Taste: 2/10 Price: TERRIBLY EXPENSIVE

As a Taiwanese person, I come travel Japan quite often. And love visiting. I hate to leave such a distasteful review. But I just want to warn visitors to the area to avoid what I had...

This comment is for foreigners who want to choose this restaurant. The serving speed today was very slow. There were 7 dishes in total, but it took them two and a half hour to serve them all. They told me that they were short-staffed today, I wonder if they are short-staffed every day? 2.AND I don’t know if this is my imagination, but I feel like some of their staff treat Japanese guests differently from foreign guests, which makes me feel very uncomfortable. Only a few staff are relatively friendly. If foreign guests are not welcome, they should just write it down. I also wondered if they were one of those typical Japanese stores that only fancy white people. The food portion was very small for a set meal. We had to go to another restaurant after finishing the meal. For reference, the photo added is for...

My husband and I were looking for a place to eat that’s opened late and decided to try this place. The language barrier posed a challenge when it came to ordering as most of the waitresses and waiters don’t speak English so they couldn’t explain why we couldn’t order a set menu. But they were polite and gave us recommendations on individual dishes, which we really appreciated. This seems to be a popular place for drinking paired with finger foods. And a drink for each person is required. We ordered the salt straw grilled chicken and duck, mizutaki, Kyoto oboro tofu, uni squid, simmered beef…we left with happy full bellies. Highly recommend the straw grilled chicken and duck, they were both excellent!
