Yakiniku Hiro (Kyoto Station) — Restaurant in Kyoto

It took us a long time to find this place, they open at 5 and there isn't a sign that's visible on the outside. Not speaking Japanese it was difficult to find and we circled the block a few times until we saw a side door. Very good food once you're in. This was our first experience with Yakiniku and it was good. They have a large range of meats that you can order, some interesting ones like intestine and tongue but some more normal pieces as well. It's a bit expensive and you get some-what small portions but the quality of food seemed to be very good and the service was very good as well.

You have to hit the bell button to summon the wait staff, they don't just come over to your table and check on you, this isn't America. I think this may be why some people complain about the service. We went early and were lucky to get a a table without reservation but we had limited time as there were other reservations. We were sent upstairs with lowered seating&table. After leaving our shoes in the entry area, we were guided to our tables. Staff was friendly and tried the best to understand what we wanted to order. Menu available in English. Foodquality and taste was very good, we ordered different variations of beef, pork, vegetables and soup. When leaving there was a crowd in front of the restaurant waiting for their tables. The host of the restaurant was really rude. I entered the restaurant and the host told me that I would have to wait 10 minutes. I said my foot was injured in English and asked if I could have a chair while waiting. The host did not seem to understand what I said and repeated that I would need to wait 10 minutes.
