For my fellow tourist, don't come here. It's ridiculously over priced. We got the English menu and I would not be surprised if the prices were marked up x100. We didn't even get any water! Fortunately, we had our water bottles. â
The plate came with 100g sirloin steak with a handful of French fries .... 125 US dollars! They also tried to force me to spend another 400 Yuen to buy a drink. We don't drink so we were going to walk out but they said nevermind.
I should have taken the hint when my top 6 choices were full on reservations and this place was empty. I had to do a double take bc the joint looked nothing like the photos and the menu looked cheap.
We ate at Michelin star spots for half the cost here in Japan. In my entire trip, this place was the worst experience for the price.
125 US dollars should have given me a premium piece of meat with better sides. Look at my photo... ask yourself does that look like 12,000 plus Yuen ? I got a steak the quality of a Dennyâs in the US but paid triple the price.
I feel tricked....
Read moreI know there are cultural misunderstandings between American and Japanese speaking people's. I thought I had agreed with the waiter to bring me a salad instead of french fries and he had agreed however no salad and no french fries. I asked for them to at least provide the french fries that came with the order and they said they could not do that. The chef came out and demanded in an aggressive tone and very close to my face (about 18 inches) that I needed to pay full price for my meal despite it being short a portion. He finally agreed to make the fries for me however at that point I was so upset that I lost my desire for the fries which I didn't want in the first place. I used a translator to make sure they understood that I was not happy and went ahead and paid full price. I figured the fries would be tampered with in any event. I must admit that the piece of meat that was served as my only portion of the meal was quite good, though it was around 10,000 yen. Just sharing my thoughts and did not feel my experience...
Read moreIf there was any meal on this trip I was looking forward to it was this one and what a disappointment it was. We ate here in 2017 and had a great experience. Well, I can tell you things have changed drastically.
If we hadn't have eaten at Steak and Wine before I would call it false advertising. Take a look at the brochure for the Kobe Beef compared to what was served. The thickness of the meat put in front of us was 1/4 inch when the picture of the steak in the brochure is clearly thicker, probably 1/2 inch. Our experience in 2017 looked similar to the brochure and was cut when served. This time they served us an uncut steak (with french fries) which isn't common in Japan, at least not for the premium cuts of meat.
When you pay $92 American dollars for Kobe beef steak, you have to deliver a better product.
Also, the staff seemed indifferent about...
