We really wanted to love this restaurant as we love Izakayas. The best dishes were the charcoal grilled corn (it was very clever to charcoal grill the strings of the corn) and the green salad (loved the egg on top). Both were balanced and tasty. The charcoaled onions were nice and smoky, with tasty sweet sauce. The mushrooms were also delicious. The spring onions with fried pork was good.
The rest did not hit. Karaage had good texture but was underseasoned. zucchini with paprika was just that. Fried rice dish was overly sweet. The quesadilla was very strange, it had almost no flavour. The bok choy was overcooked, undersalted, and paired strangely with whitebait. The fried noodles came unfortunately partially undercooked.
Overall, the charcoal vegetables were substantially better than the other dishes. The ambience and service of the restaurant was good. If you are looking for a fun place to drink, this would be great, but we would not return given the food. The whole experience took over 2 hours with a lot of waiting between dishes. With the large variety of tasty and much cheaper food in Japan,...

The chef is originally from Okinawa, and you can clearly taste where his inspiration is coming from in every single dish. He only uses Kyoto's vegetables, and the quality of the meat is absolutely amazing. We have ordered aubergine with nabou sauce, wagyu beef with watercress, yodare dori Ise red chicken with herb dressing, quesadilla with Okinawa chilli oil, minced duck yakisoba, manganji tougarassi with grilled beef, every dish was superb. As always, my sweet tooth prevailed, and I craved for something sweet, we ordered soya milk ice cream with figs!!
2024 Review: Back for more in March 2024. The food and the service were both impeccable. We ordered the Kujoneghi Kyoto pork, the Kumamoto sirloin steak (it was absolutely delicious), the Kyoto pork shoulder, and the chicken yakisoba. To finish off the meal, we ordered the cheesecake with the...
Read morevery nice place, good concept with a huge counter table and open kitchen. you can order little tapas as many as you want. also good for vegetarians & vegans, BUT they cook the vegetables on the same oily grill as the meat. also no other options than vegetables (grilled or fried), rice and noodles. no tofu or anything.
service was very friendly and kind but we waited for AGES to get the food. we had half an hour break in between and thought they forgot the noodles, reminded them and after another long time we finally got it. same case again with the rice… very frustrating and we were not very full of the food.
stuff apologised, but the cook didn’t care at all.
nice place if you have luck 😁 probably good to make a...
