I was in town with a friend for the day to explore Matsumoto, and after a long day visiting museums and the beautiful castle I wanted some good hot food to warm ourselves up (this was on a beautiful winter day!). I searched for "Yakiniku" (grilled meat) and found this place with good reviews and a central location, so decided we should give it a go!
There, we were greeted by Daisuke. He was positive, cheerful and unfazed by my very broken japanese and heavy use of Google Translate!
They have seats by the bar, a few tables, but also more private rooms that can be partitioned off for more privacy. We were given one such room. Daisuke offered us the japanese menu as well as an abridged English version and explained patiently how it worked and what cost what.
The service was overall impeccable and he took the time to explain everything. We ordered a big plate with various meats for only 6000 yen, and then got some drinks and added a few smaller sides (like mushrooms and salad).
It was fun, the food was DELICIOUS, and on that one big plate we had 6 different meats to try! The quantity was perfect for the two of us and the quality/price ratio felt very reasonable!
I therefore humbly thank Daisuke for his kindness, help, and great food and wish them all the best! (He even left us a little hand-written thank you note at the end!)
I've attached a picture of the plate of meat we ordered as well as a picture of Daisuke and our chef, whom both happily posed for us 😊
I happily recommend this place for a fairly priced, good quality and hassle-free Yakiniku...
Read moreFantastic restaurant, very good & kind service, food is excellent and a real experience. If you'd like to experience the Japanese grill-style self-prepared food this is a definite go-to place! The beautifully prepared food is grilled on a palm-wood-charcoal stove/grill/BBQ on the table. The Wagyu beef, scalops, shrimps, veggies, dippings etc. are out of this world! And definitely drink their Matsumoto Sake!
Communication with G* translate or SayHi app went smoothly as well as reading the Japanese menu. Ask the hotel reception to make a reservation for you and your accompanying friends or family by phone or the "Line" app (local app). One needs to speak the language to make a reservation. Reservation for a private room for 7 persons is also possible.
Don't miss it when you...
Read moreLocated on the 2nd floor, the place was empty when we arrived but it deserves a full house for sure. The atmosphere was cosy and a perfect ambience for a quality and value-for-money Wagyu BBQ.
Ordered their steak, marinated beef as well as their Kimchi Tofu Soup and Bimbimbap just for fun but they were not kidding with the Korean dishes especially the Tofu Soup!
The steak were all of quality, sear them medium rare and they literally melted without even chewing.
On a side note, the meat are all cooked on 100% charcoal with it being served in a big stone pot.
Would love to see more people giving this place a try; thank you for the...
