Looking back at our week visiting Japan, this restaurant ranked as our best meal and best food experience by a long shot. We were originally looking for another place on the same street that was ranking high in Google, but when we got there, we were just not feeling it, but noticed this restaurant nearby that was busy and seemed to have a great crowd so we rolled the dice and entered. So glad we did as what a hidden little gem this place is. We sat in a spot where we could watch the head chef and you could clearly see his passion and effort he put into each and every dish he proudly created. He would even deliver to the table when staff was busy and check in with guests to ensure their food was being enjoyed. Unsure if the chef was the owner, but I got the sense he was and that he wanted to please his guests as a primary goal. I was expecting a huge bill, but somehow it ended up being one of the cheaper meals. Shocked I was. The experience had lingered in my mind so much that I had to write a review a week later. Read moreGreat food at very reasonable prices! I really loved the chicken thigh skewers which were salted (or marinated in shio koji?) and grilled to perfection - the skin was tight and glassy and meat was tender and full of locked in moisture.
Their oden broth packed a very rich flavour and the ingredients were cooked perfectly (my favourite was the tamago) and served with a side of spicy chilli paste (interesting choice, but works!).
The potato salad featured a variety of ingredients such as mentaiko, quail eggs, carrots, radish sprouts mixed together beautifully delivering great flavour and texture.
Based on my impression, this place is run by talented and passionate young adults who are not afraid to experiment with unique combinations and bold flavours.
The service was really great as well. Special shout out to Shiba San (apologies if I spelt your name incorrectly) for making us feel very welcome and mixing our salad with such style and poise! And thanks for creating such a fun...
Read moreWe had a wonderful experience dining at this lively izakaya. Despite visiting as a group of four adults with two young kids (aged three and one) — which is quite uncommon for an izakaya — everything worked out perfectly. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very hospitable, even speaking basic English to make communication easy.
The food was excellent overall. The sashimi stood out for its incredible freshness and flavour, and every dish we ordered was appetising and satisfying. Service was efficient, with dishes arriving within 10 to 20 minutes after ordering. The atmosphere was cheerful and vibrant, making the meal even more enjoyable.
We also appreciated the thoughtful touches, like hangers available for our coats. It’s a place we’d definitely love to...
