華鹿 -KAROKU- — Restaurant in Nara

We are a British family of three who came at 6.30pm for dinner on our last full day in Japan.

I think a lot of the food was made from scratch and it was very good. I ordered chicken namban set meal which was recommended to me by the owner. My son ordered yakitori with green onion and my wife ordered Ton-Negi (pork). All were good!

The price was very fair too. We also ordered 2 sides (steak and pork) and the total bill was 6000 yen.

There was only one member of staff in there. I think he was the owner and he was very friendly and we felt welcome, as foreigners.

English menu was available.

They do accept credit cards (on the menu, it had the lime "We accept cash only" but it was crossed out. So we did ask, and credit card was fine).

One of the best restaurants I have tried during my trip to Japan. The full meal course is abundant and really tasty, the soups were delicious, and all for under 1000 yen (~6€). The waiters were also really nice. We were in Nara for only one day and we found this restaurant by chance while looking for a place to have lunch. We ended up enjoying it so much that we went back to have dinner. If I ever visit Nara again I will surely...

We were searching for a place for a drink without ordering food... But the prices were so good we ordered some food anyway!
