Tori Tamura — Restaurant in Nara

Tori Tamura is definitely the place to go for chicken in Nara.

Located about 2 minutes from the Nara JR station.

The izakaya has 2 floors - the first floor has tables and counter top seating and the 2nd floor can accommodate larger parties.

It had a great atmosphere and nice decor to it.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming - service with a smile.

The food was amazing - ordered many things and pretty much everything was delicious. I really liked the negi tori (green onions and chicken), spring rolls, deep fried cheese, gobo fries, sticky potatoes, chicken wasabi, chicken wings, pork belly, mini hamburgs and garlic & chicken.

They have a great selection of alcoholic drinks, including Heartland beer (one of my favourite beers in Japan).

There is an English menu available, but some of the “specials” are in Japanese only - will need to use Google translate if you can’t read Japanese.

Will definitely be back again...

Yakitori restaurant, just across the road from Nara Station. Small downstairs, but also upstairs seating. Yakitori fresh and generally good, with good, quick service. Beer cold, which is important after a long day wandering round Nara. Seems to get crowded in the evening, so recommend getting there on the dot of 5:30, or making a reservation, which will require Japanese. Menus available, and very understandable, in English, if you are not fluent...

Great food, great environment on 2/F. There were variety of chicken dishes, including salad, skewer, and TKG (egg on rice). The chicken they provided are high quality meat, the best chicken I have ever had.
