This ramen restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

It’s across the street from the Nara JR Station - on the corner of Sanjo street.

It’s quite small - it only has 6 seats so there is sometimes a line up. You order from a vending machine, which has English available.

The ramen is delicious - great flavour. The soup is pork and chicken based. The chashu is good and the noodles match well with the soup - great balance.

The side menu is also very nice - karaage, deep fried gyoza, and more.

The restaurant is open till late - around 3am (last order is at 2:30am). It’s perfect for a late night meal. The restaurant also has Corona measures in place: there is a face scanner to check your temperature, sanitizers readily available and plastic partitions.

I look forward to my next meal...

Menya Ryu is an absolute must-visit if you are in Nara and love ramen. The moment you take a sip of their broth, you can tell it has been crafted with care. It is rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. I tried the Red Dragon Ramen and it had just the right amount of spice to make it exciting without overpowering the other flavors.

The noodles are perfectly cooked with a great chew. The toppings, tender chashu, fresh vegetables, and a soft-boiled egg, make the bowl even better. The staff are welcoming and attentive, making the experience very enjoyable.

The restaurant has a cozy vibe that feels authentic. The portions leave you satisfied without being too heavy. Whether you are a ramen fan or just looking to try something special in Nara, Menya Ryu is...
