Daikokuya Restaurant — Restaurant in Narita

Located at the tail end of Naritasan Omote Sando (near the Naritasan Shinsho-ji temple), it's not as popular as the famous Unagi restaurant located in the middle of the street

It was my first time trying Unagi. I went with the cheaper option (Unagi don) since I wasn't sure I'd like it. It tasted alright. The portion was a little bit too small for the price, so I didn't feel very satisfied after the meal. I quite like the seaweed soup though, it's light and pairs quite well...

Such a cute place where you can choose to sit at a table or on the mats. The smoked unagi is absolutely delicious, packed with a slightly sweet, salty, black peppery flavor. The soba and the dipping sauce were refreshing, and the katsu was light and crispy. We did not have a bad meal here. Service was friendly and accommodating. We communicated using Google Translate and their "foreign friendly"...
