Taro — Restaurant in Nikko

Honestly- wow! This was an incredible meal and the vibes were fantastic. But the ginger pork was seriously unreal, first time we've ever had pork like this and it was so juicy and amazing but also perfectly grilled and charred. There is some kind of marinade/coating on it which makes it absolutely delicious. It was so good i forgot to take a photo before digging in... sorry! The ginger pork with rice + miso soup cost us 1500 yen.

Next we had the teriyaki chicken pizza which was so tasty and delicious! The burnt cheese pieces and cheese quality was out of this world. The flavors blended all nicely together. Pizza costs 1600 yen.

Brilliant restaurant, I visited twice. It's busy and there might be a short wait, but it is worth it. I had the Ginger Pork first, and then the Tomato Salad on next visit. Staff are extremely friendly and the atmosphere is great (I loved hearing old classics from Oklahoma).

Update: I came back for a third time!!! This time Pork Kimchi Stir-fry, you absolutely must try this if you like a little spicy. Words cannot describe how nice this meal was, I still can't get it off my mind. Magic occurs in this restaurant, and I suspect the chef has found their Ikigai.

Update2: I made it back a couple of months later and enjoyed the Pork Kimchi Stir-fry again, still revelling the after taste. Hopefully will be back in January with family.

We arrived at 7pm to a long line outside. It was probably due to the long weekend holiday. As first time visitors, we asked a few people in line to see if there’s a wait list. None of us knew there was one. After two hours of waiting, a wait staff came out to pass a waitlist with no information given. No respect was given to the lineup order. People after us took/ were given the list to sign up. No communication from the restaurant, no calling names, nothing. We were then told we could get in if we were willing to wait for 2 hours on top of the 2 hours when it was our turn to go inside the indoor waiting area. We left without food.
