あまから亭 — Restaurant in Osaka

This place is a bit hard to find and is run by an old couple. It basically offers 3 variants of okonomiyaki, the pork type, "modernyaki" and mixed-yaki which has pork and seafood. It also offers yakisoba in pork or mixed. You sit around a warm pan, and the owner will cook the food in his hot pan and transfer them to your pan, so that the food is always warm.

The okonomiyaki is excellent, I had them in other places and they tend to have too much flour, but here you don't have that problem. I have to say though I like the yakisoba more, the taste is very bold and flavorful.

The place is literally a mom and pop shop and it is quite small, and the owner has to cook each order in sequence so it's not super fast, but I really love the authentic taste of everything, it is worth it's high rating! Not to mention the completely awesome low price...

THE ACTUAL OPEN HOURS ARE 5PM-10PM! My boyfriend and I made the mistake of trusting the operating hours on Google Maps and walked in on the owner about to have lunch! We felt so bad for intruding, but the owner decided to fire up the grill and serve us anyway. We ordered okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and draft beer. The owner extended his kindness by offering homemade side dishes and fresh fruit for dessert. I could not believe the level of hospitality and generosity from someone who had every right to turn us away. Everything was delicious, and it was my favorite meal in Osaka.
