I had some friends visiting Japan from Florida, and I met them in Osaka to hang out. It was around 10pm on a Tuesday and my friends wanted to try Okonomiyaki for the first time. I googled places that were open, and this was the closest to us. The sound of Migos playing on the speakers caught our attention before we even saw the store, and the bright neon sign let us know we were definitely in the right place 😎The owner greeted us and treated every customer in the store like a best friend. His energy is so chaotic and so funny lol! I have no idea how this place has less than 40 reviews! For a Tuesday, it was pretty full of customers! Don’t be surprised if you have to stand and eat. The food might also take a while to come out, since they make everything to order. But that wait is sooo worth it! The food will be fresh, hot, and DELICIOUS!! And good, reasonable prices too! They also offer take out if you order right at the counter. One of my friends left before the food arrived, so me and my remaining friend had lots of food leftover. We felt so bad that we were leaving so much food!! That’s when the older gentleman (maybe the dad of the owner?) suggested he pack up the leftovers for us, so of course we said yes! Getting leftovers to go is such a rare thing in Japan so I was so happy they were accommodating! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! If they’re this busy late at night on a random Tuesday, it’s probably even more lit on a weekend! 🤑It was so busy but the owner will go out of his way to make conversation. He’s definitely someone my friends and I will never forget! We always laugh thinking about the...
Read moreTHIS PLACE IS A MUST IF YOU VISIT OSAKA, my family and I were wandering around dontonbori area and found this place on google maps with good reviews. We went to check out the place and it was a mom and pop looking place with standing tables and bar. Super cute hand drawn menu on the wall and very homey authentic atmosphere, we knew we had to eat here.
However when we entered we were told the chef wasn’t there and would be back in about half an hour. So we waited and my family joked that it would be so cool if he would pulled up on a motorcycle, and sure enough he pulled up on a mo-ped and was thrilled that we waited for him.
He recommended his yakisoba baby and okonomiyaki baby, as well as the omelette and chicken karage, all of which he cooked right in front of us in his little kitchen in the front of the shop. IT WAS SOME OF THE BEST FOOD OF OUR TRIP. Extremely charismatic guy, very entertaining. Turns out the restaurant is owned by his parents who do the drink service and he has his own setup in the front where he does his cooking.
This place is the true Osaka...
Read moreI was recommended by a local to visit here as it’s “the best okonomiyaki in the city”. This place exceeded even those expectations!
Please note that it’s a stand bar, my first visit to such an establishment in Japan, and it’ll be very difficult for anywhere else to live ip to the expectations that were set here!
The staff here are amazing, so attentive. It’s hard to say what is better, the food, service, or overall vibe of this MUST VISIT Osaka staple! I had a savoury pancake and a draft beer for a very reasonable price.
Easily one of the best food experiences I’ve had in Japan, and if you’re out in Osaka having a big night then make sure you stop in to soak up the atmosphere, food, and whatever you’ve put in your belly so far 😜🥳🍽️🥰🇯🇵
P. S. As a signwriter by trade I adored the hand drawn signs here, I couldn’t ask for a more real heartfelt experience. Not only the staff, but also the customers made me feel...
