I loved everything about the place. It's run by a man-woman duo who are both warm and attentive even to a non-Japanese speaking tourist like me. I went twice, once after lunch on a weekday and once on a Sunday morning, just before I left to go back to my country. The first visit there wasn't much people. On Sunday they're open only in the morning, I believe, and when I went, their accordion door was only halfway open. Their place was filled with locals and I was lucky and glad I asked if they're open as they had a slot. As much as I wanted to try their other food items, I ordered their ogura toast (with red bean and whipped cream) on both occasions. That's how much I loved it. The bread, saturated with butter, was soft on the inside and croissant-like on the outside. I usually like my coffee sweet but theirs was also nice even without syrup. I got the weiner coffee on my first visit and a simple americano on the second. I will always miss this place and I'll make sure to come back when I return to Osaka.
They have a no photo signage when I visited so I don't have photos, but the ones posted here are good enough reference for their food items.
Must visit, and will...
Read moreMy experience was amazing from the very entrance. I could feel stares of all the locals who did not expect to see a tall blonde foreigner first thing in the morning. Even without looking at the old lady who was serving there, I could tell that she's a little dumbfounded. The food here is just super tasty. If you look around you may feel that everything is a little old or raw and unpolished. Even food, it doesn't look as good as it tastes, but you can tell that it was made with care by this other old guy. Prices here feel normal. You can get a 'set', which is a drink of your choice and a bread snack (hot dogs, toasts, sandwiches) and it costs around ¥500 (tax included). I ordered a tea, a sweet cinnamon toast and 2 sandwiches with ham and egg. They don't speak english here, but you can show what you want from the menu. The lady suggested me getting a set by herself, because I ordered tea and sandwiches which weren't available in sets. Well, she was surprised that I still wanted them with the set and I don't blame her, because after that I doubt I'll...
Read moreI usually don't write references but to this one I would like to dedicate some words. Not knowing if the kind owners of the place will ever read it, I hope that this message will find its way to them at some point. I got to spend an hour at Café Izumi, having an orange juice and the most simple and delicious toast. Everything about this place moved me, actually almost to tears. That might sound pathetic, but I wished that moment to sit there forever and forget about the world outside. I admired the way the owners prepared the breakfast and how it felt as if I was invited at someone's home. I ordered a second sandwich with omelette and another orange juice, I was still a little hungry but honestly I just wanted to stay longer. It made them smile. Thank you for this one...
