Chinese Restaurant Royal Ryuho — Restaurant in Osaka

This Chinese restaurant sits atop the lesser tower of the RIHGA Royal Hotel - nestled on the 15th floor. Remember though, not all lifts are equal so you need to find the right ones to reach your destination. All auspices point upward.

The restaurant itself is traditional in appearance, with rich dark woods and sumptuous red colourings. Most auspicious. There are private dining rooms, as you would expect. The restaurant area itself has splendid views, looking out across the city vista. Visit at sunset, enjoy the setting sun.

The menu is extensive, and many items come with the option for either small or medium. Bear in mind though, small still serves 1-2, it would be very easy to over-order here… 😸

Ordered three dishes to share between three, plus rice. Garlic vegetables, which were gorgeous - big heaps of garlic on top; chicken with cashews - tasty and then, what was definitely the highlight of the meal - shrimp in a spicy sauce. Wow. Such shrimp. These were the type of shrimp Australians would bbq. Big, juicy and plump, these were coated in a tempura batter and sat in a bed of light sauce. Beautiful. Could eat these all day. Highly recommend these.

The rice had crab in it; this was tasty. Not had that in rice before.

To drink, Tsingtao; because this is a Chinese restaurant and so demands a Chinese beer. Apparently.

Overall, a fantastic meal at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended to anyone in the area or staying at the hotel. Two paws up.

Speaking of paws, this was my first time using chopsticks (I know, I know… 😸) - I think I managed alright, even with my clumsy paws… Not a shrimp...

The good ambiance and some dishes were delicious but felt some of the staff were not hospitable despite being in a restaurant in the hotel. Thought the dishes were good but overall did not...

父の誕生日会で個室を利用しました。 店に着くなり、男性スタッフより「ここ結構お高いですけど、大丈夫ですか？」とニヤニヤしながら言われました。 部屋担当の女性スタッフはとても威圧的で、「1人遅れます」と伝えたところ、笑顔もなく「それはどれくらい遅れますか、間に合いますか」などととても迷惑そうな顔で聞いてきました。 部屋の中の声は外に漏れていたようで、食事の提供が遅いねと話した直後に入ってきて、部屋の中の声はこちらに聞こえてますよと言いたいのか「お食事の提供が遅くて申し訳ございません」といちいちわざとらしく言ってきます。 こちらが用意した父の誕生日ケーキを出してもらった際は、「このケーキ小さすぎるので皆さんではお召し上がりになれないとは思いますが、持って帰られますか？」と言ってきたり、ケーキのタイミングで出してもらうようにお願いしていたプレゼントも2回ほど言っても持ってきてくれなかったりしました。 お食事はとても美味しかったのに、スタッフの対応がリーガロイヤルのスタッフとは思えなく、せっかく父の誕生日のお祝いをしにきたのに、...
