We decided to have dinner at Erik after a long journey from Taipei to Osaka, influenced by some positive reviews of the place.
The first impression felt more like entering an American deli than an Indian restaurant. I believe there could be improvements in the ethnic ambiance, perhaps by dimming the lights. Nevertheless, the place is very neat and clean.
We opted for the 4-curry dinner set menu. I felt that the sauce consistency was not as creamy as I am accustomed to in other Indian restaurants (a personal observation). Although the sauces were tasty, I think they should adjust the spice levels (each sauce had its own level, with no option to request light, medium, or strong, as it seems the food was pre-prepared). Additionally, the portions of chicken and meat curries were quite small, almost lacking in meat pieces, while the rice portions were ample.
We accompanied the meal with a roti that seemed average, and a recommended mango lassi.
The gentleman who served us was very accommodating and always attentive to refill water or address any needs.
In terms of value for money, I have dined in better indian places in other...
Read moreI Lovely modern restaurant in rétro Nishitenma. They have tables for 4, booths for 2, and counters for 1. At each table there are authentic tasting condiments that make each dish just a bit better. North Indian food is easily found all over the world, but it is South Indian spices and dishes that I crave for - I came on April 14th especially to have their dosas but they stopped serving their dosa meals on April 11th! Although I was a quite disappointed, I found that their world class biryani made up for it. Wow! I must thank them for preparing the biryani without chicken. Having a vegetarian meal was also extremely convenient for me. Erick even offers seconds and thirds on rice, sambal, rasam. Finished my meal with wonderful cup of hot chai - no sugar on the side but already made with the perfect balance of spices, milk, and tea. Want good Indian food, this is it. Want outstanding South Indian food, you have...
Read moreWe dined at Erick South Indian Restaurant last night and had a wonderful experience. Though the space is small, it’s clean and welcoming. The chef — likely trained in India — served up an authentic dosa that truly hit the spot. The sambar was so flavorful I ended up ordering an extra helping!
My daughter and I are currently vacationing in Japan and were seriously craving South Indian food — Erick South exceeded our expectations 😊. The friendly service and English-speaking staff were an...
