Quite simply the worst pancakes I have ever tried. Sometimes a rating is inaccurate and I thought to give this the benefit of the doubt. Instead, it turns out they are even worse than the rating given on Google.
So why was this so bad? Extremely limited menu (literally one ‘soufflé’ pancake option), and even that is not a truly a soufflé pancake. The flavour combinations do not work at all; the first pancake has fruit and some cream which was okay, nothing spectacular; the second layer has cream and a thin piece of hard chocolate- not sure why, but it was a pointless filling; the last is by far the worst, a poached egg (which was practically raw) - mine contained several shells which made it even worse Extremely dry and flavourless standard pancake options; I thought maybe this was a one off and limited to just the soufflé pancake, so I opted to try two other versions, the caramelised banana and Tiramisu, and if I tried these blind I could probably not tell you the difference; it is clear and obvious the focus of these pancakes were aesthetics, which in fairness is decent, but to the complete detriment of any taste being present They make you pay before you even eat - never in my life have I heard of this being a thing, although given how bad it was, I can probably see why they have...
Read moreWhat a terrible disappointment! I saw the shop when I was heading to the castle. I read the publicity on the window saying to try the premium pancakes. After coming back from the castle and eating my dinner, I was excited to have my desert. I arrived at 2.35pm. Too bad, I was too early to try the premium pancakes. Yeah, because it's served only 2 times a day at 11am and 3pm. And it's only 20 per service. So if you are there at that time, you can get the chance to try it. In other words, it's like lottery. You will have more chance of seeing sea turtle when diving in Okinawa than eating those pancakes. What a great marketing idea! I'm thinking about the people who work 9 to 5 or even the tourists visiting the area. You have to plan this like an event! Plus, who eat pancake at 11am just before lunch or at 3pm? I ended up eating the classic one and honestly I couldn't tell the difference between the ones you get in kombinis! Oh yes, the price difference obviously! Please save your time and don't take a day off just to be able to eat this! What a joke!
P. S : the picture is me seeing a sea turtle on my first diving experience in November in...
Read moreKnowing that soufflé pancakes are one of Osaka’s most known eateries, we decided to dine in this place after visiting the Osaka castle. We ordered 1 savory & 1 soufflé.
For savory, we prefers the bacon & scrambled eggs pancakes. The pancakes were thick & crispy on the edge. The scrambled eggs were thick, buttery & soft. It was well done. There were 2 slices of bacon was served not on the crispy side but it was a slice of bacon (spams slice thick) served on top with salad on the side. I liked this dish as it was perfect.
Whereas for the soufflé, we ordered the ones with chocolates, eggs & vanilla in a serving. I wasn’t impressed with the soufflé as I thought it was all gooey inside but the chocolate was served with a slice of chocolate inside , surrounded by whipped cream. Whereas the ones with the egg, we were served poached egg in the soufflé, but again - there isn’t any gooeyness coming out after slicing it. The ones with vanilla was okay. Nothing to shout about.
But overall I’ve had better soufflé as this soufflé wasn’t soft & airy to my...
