THIS IS A TOURIST SPOT WITH NO LOCALS Well as the caption says there is legit no locals coming to this store despite its insanely high review rating. The food is good as you really can't go wrong with gyoza, if you managed to mess up gyoza might consider closing the shop. While the food was good it isn't really that life changing and don't get your expectations too high, it's just a place for gyoza. Most importantly I think what it lacks is the feeling of it being a good local gyozya. With no locals being in it, it feels like you are not eating in Japan rather a country with multinational races/people. It doesn't give the same authentic Japanese gyoza vibe in my opinion. The staff there are friendly and they are quite fluent in English as their primary customers are foreigners. To be honest, I don't know if I can really say I have experienced a gyozaya as it really does not feel like one. Final verdict go there to try some local gyozas would be fine. Don't go out of your way to purposely find this shop and eat, it isn't really that life changing experience or that core memory that you are looking for. If there is a queue just go to the next store unless you haven't tasted gyoza your...
Read moreI think I fell for a tourist trap. Is it just me or is this place overhyped? Staff seemed too pushy but spoke English really well. I can't speak for the pork gyoza but my brother said it was just alright. My sister seemed to like the gyoza though and got take out the following night.
Deep Fried Gyoza, (¥590)- 3/5 Most of the gyozas were stuck together and basically all broke apart when I tried to eat one. The server said it tastes better with hot chili oil and soy sauce, which was definitely true. But honestly, nothing special.
Apple Vinegar- 4/5 This was homemade so I definitely had to try it. Really refreshing and not as "vinegary" as the ones in the supermarket. A light and tasty drink.
I don't recall the exact names of the dishes, but I tried their fish soup noodle and it did have a fishy sorta taste. I guess it is as advertised, but I didn't find it good, just meh.
Their french fries were decent, came out piping hot with ketchup on the side. Doesn't taste like American fries, but they're still good. Portion was small though.
Grilled Kansai Onion with Ponzu- 2/5 Didn't really taste the ponzu, it literally tasted like a...
Read moreAn absolutely fantastic place. The food is some of the best I had in Japan and the service is excellent. I ALMOST had it ruined for me because when we walked in, we sat next to a group of loud tourists from Australia who were really killing the vibe with profanity and lewd comments among themselves. Then before we ordered, the manager came to us and said that there has been a mistake and that the table we were sitting at was reserved so they moved us to a more private table near the entrance. No biggie. Hey, it worked in our favor because now we could enjoy our quiet meal. Then as the night went on, it hit me. No reservation came for that table. Why? Because there was no reservation for that table. The fine people at Gyoza-oh could see that the loud people were messing up our experience and they moved us so we could have a nice dinner. What awareness! We didn’t ask to be moved. They were just so focused on our needs. So might night went from bad to great because of them. Now I could enjoy their excellent food and sake. The Manager (can’t remember his name!) was superb. I’ll go here every time...
