Kenny.row. — Restaurant in Osaka

We had a very bad experience here and wanted to strongly warn potential visitors about this place - the chef/owner is a scammer!

We visited Osaka in December and were excited to be able to get a reservation for 2. We were surprised when we arrived and found that we were the only two guests in the entire restaurant - there were no other parties.

The meal was nothing like the pictures on their website - we only received 6 pieces of sushi as part of our omakase, and none of the pieces were anywhere close to the quality shown on his website. We were served the strangest dishes and nothing here was good (there was a dish that was just a grilled piece of cheese).

The worst part of the experience though and what compelled us to write a review was the chef both underserved us and overcharged us, and we suspect it was because we were foreigners. His website clearly states the price per person is 15,000 yen, yet he charged us 52,000 yen total for two people. When we reached out after the fact (we did not know the price when we had booked but thought this was the biggest rip-off we've ever experienced in Japan), the chef told us the online price was outdated and that his omakase price "varies" - he then gave us an itemized breakdown and told us he actually gave us a discount on the total bill (even though he didn't tell us about this discount while we were there). I suspect it was because he could not create a sensical itemized receipt with the 10% service charge to build up to 52,000 even.

I've have poor experiences at restaurants before but generally don't write bad reviews - despite the quality of the meal and the price, I would typically still not write a critical and negative review. But seeing the price clearly posted online and seeing many other locals writing good reviews, I suspect the chef/owner targets unsuspecting tourists who don't know any better - so this place needs to...

I've been around a lot of places and I must say this is surely in my top 3 restaurants in the world and most probably placed first as my favorite one.

Omakase - Kenny will choose from his heart what you're going to eat and boy, his heart speaks beautifully. There was a party a flavors and textures that danced amazingly the whole night in our table.

I can't recommend something specific because we had the 15 course meal, but each one of it was outstanding.

Kenny himself is such a nice guy, great conversation through out the night and overall a lovely guy. If you are in Osaka listen to me, do yourself a favor and try out this place, I'm sure you're never going to regret it and probably will be in your list of...

We had a wonderful, personal dining experience in Kenny's restaurant. The food was delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. We loved the small intimate setting. With only 9 counter seats, you get to visit with the chef while he prepares your dishes. Him and his daughter were wonderful to talk with, and the service was great.
