WOW! I'm no self-proclaimed banh mi connoisseur but banh mis truly are one of my favorite foods in the world and I have traveled to Vietnam multiple times and eaten at some amazing banh mi spots, particularly in Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City... With that said, the sandwiches here are authentic and definitely no Japanese-take on the sandwich, which is always a risk when eating non-Japanese food in Japan.
This little spot is lovingly run by a Vietnamese woman who will greet and shower you with kindness as soon as you step in. We sat at the counter where a speaker played Vietnamese music in the background and got a full view of the kitchen. We were so touched to see the owner and cook's young daughter take our order in a composition notebook. It's a small eatery and the mother cooks by herself so although your order may take a little while to prepare, by no means is she cutting corners and in the first bite you know she's poured love into her foods.
We ordered a char siu banh mi, pho ga, and two lemongrass lemon teas. The banh mi was SO delicious that upon my first bite, I asked her to prepare another one for take out so I can take it home to eat later. I am currently eating it as I type this.
I will surely miss this place and fondly think of the food when I return home to the states, so on my behalf, please eat here and order a...
Read moreTruly one of, if not THE best banh mi I’ve ever had and this is coming from a Vietnamese person that visited this shop with 7 other banh mi loving friends — THREE TIMES IN TWO DAYS!
I originally came here with three friends because it was the close to our hotel and banh mi sounded good so we ordered takeout to bring back to the rest of the group. The owner was SO friendly and kind and you could tell she prepared our sandwiches with love and care for her product. Everyone loved the sandwiches so much we immediately went back for seconds after finishing the first round.
Everything was homemade from the bread (so so good, the perfect balance of crispy and soft) to the pate to the pickled veggies. She was personable and chatted with us when we came back and dined in for round two. She had other customers that came by and took care of them with such calm professionalism even though she was already preparing a large order for 8 people!
We’ve decided to get it for breakfast the next morning before we leave Osaka for Tokyo and everyone has been talking about how excited they are for the banh mi. We ordered the banh mi special and banh mi ha noi and both were superb. I’m sad we won’t have access to this shop back in the states but I will definitely come back every time I...
Read moreHad the bahn mi & another pork kind of noodles in picture . Bahn mi was good . Noodles was ok . I went to shop around 1430pm & ordered bahn mi / ice lime juice . It was a hot day & i asked for a cup of ice water but was told they only served water till 1300pm .
I was surprised when i was told but reading the other reviews , they used bottled water ?? It cost them money ? Why can't they use filtered water like most shops & compliment it to the customer ? Its getting so hot nowadays & drinks i ordered was not here but they refused to give me any ice water ? Then after awhile , she gave me a cup of water from their hot water boiler with some ice in it . It became luke warm water . This place only receive...
