The moment I stepped into the restaurant, one of the staff hurriedly came to greet my family and me, with a warm, comforting smile on his face, making us feel welcome.
After sitting down, it was time to order the food. Looking at the menu, we were spoilt for choice, unsure of what to order as all of the food options seemed equally scrumptious.
In the end, after much contemplation, my family and myself decided to order the Omakase dinner set.
There were a total of 7 courses in the Omakase dinner set, namely the appetiser, sashimi, grilled fish, foie gras, assorted tempura, sea brim and mushroom rice, and dessert.
The appetiser was absolutely fantastic, already satisfying my tastebuds even before I had the main course. The sashimi was incredibly fresh with a tang of sweetness, making it even more pleasant to eat. The grilled fish was even more delicious. After one bite, my stomach immediately demanded for more. The foie gras was buttery, delicate, and had a melt-in-your-mouth texture. The assorted tempura was crispy with a savoury taste to it. In my opinion, the best part of the whole meal was the tantalising sea brim and mushroom rice. I thought that the sea brim and mushroom rice would be just like any other ordinary bowl of rice. However, the moment I tasted the rice, I was proven wrong. With the sea brim and mushroom infused into the rice, it gave the rice a new kind of flavour which I would never forget. Lastly, dessert. The ice cold yuzu ice cream was one of the best I have ever tasted. Additionally, the ice cream was not too sweet, making it even more refreshing.
All in all, we really enjoyed the dinner at Mahoraya. We savoured every bite of it and would definitely dine at Mahoraya again if my family and myself were to visit Osaka.
In addition, since my family and myself are not very fluent in the Japanese language, the staff who served us even went the extra mile to use Google Translate and helped us understand what he was saying.
Overall, my family and myself enjoyed our dining experience at Mahoraya tremendously. So, I would strongly recommend Mahoraya to everyone as I think you would have the same enjoyable dining experience at...

As you walk into the restaurant, with a modern and clean ambiance, staff will greet you warmly and make you feel welcomed.
Ordered the set menu, and had an exquisite dinner, with my wife and young daughter. The meal was of the highest quality and extremely pleasing to the senses. The restaurant also has a good selection of quality sake to choose from.
To top it all, we had the opportunity to interact with 統括料理長 (Executive Chef) 渡久地剛 (ToGuChi-San). ToGuChi-San made the dining experience even more pleasant. He was extremely attentive, noted our limited grasp of the Japanese language, and immediately grabbed his iPad and communicated with, and assisted, us via Google Translate. Throughout our dinner, he will come by, and check in, to ensure that we had a pleasant dining experience.
We had such a tremendous and great dining experience that we made reservations for another dinner on the following day to try other dishes.
We highly recommend まほらや to all, both Japanese-speaking and non-Japanese-speaking guests, for an exquisite and pleasant dining...
Read moreThis was a highlight of our trip to Osaka and was such a surprise of a gem. We felt overwhelmed by nighttime Dotonbori and looked for a restaurant closer to our hotel not knowing what to expect - I’m so glad we found Mahoraya! Such a cool vibe, very nice servers and chefs, with an exposed kitchen so you can see them working throughout the meal.
We were a little confused by their menu (our fault), so our advice for others is to order the “course meal” and trust the chef. Every dish was incredible and so thoughtfully put together, and they cooked the rice specially for us and made onigiri with the leftovers for us to take with us. I wish I took more photos because I really think this restaurant should be a Michelin star. Will definitely be back next time we...
