I stumbled uppon this place while looking for a light meal at 4pm before most restaurants open. Came for the sandwich and cake, but stayed for extensive list of teas and some home made cake. While waiting for my sandwich and tea to arrive I decided to dive into the reviews.
I have to agree with criticism mentioned before, food was good but not perfect and it would make a difference if a dipping sauce for side potatoes was given. Service, while not terrible, was rather disheartening to have a very robotic interaction. After 10 years in the industry I can not imagine this happening in a British establishment, let alone a place that should introduce foreigners to British culture.
I can tell that the girl is being overworked and no wonder she seems like she is not there. I hoped to give my genuine advice to atleast try smiling, but I am afraid cultural difference would make my words seem like an insult. It’s a nice looking place with ‘ok’ quality of food, there’s room for improvement without a doubt (not burning the fries for example). However the good experience is always eclipsed by the HORRENDOUS customer service. It hasn’t been my first time here but most probably will be the last.
