Unfortunately, I ran into some issues with people smoking. I am very sensitive to the smell of cigarettes - that's why I always book hotels with non-smoking rooms only. Upon checking in, I was assigned a room that smells like cigarettes. I tried to get it changed, but the hotel was full. They told me I could change rooms the next day (I stayed for three nights) - same size, no extra charge.
I suffered through the first night in a cigarette-smelling room. The staff did try to remove the smell with an ozone air purifier (note: they never said how dangerous the machine is, so I think I breathed it in a bit), but it didn't help.
The next day, they switched me to a room that's significantly smaller. There wasn't even space to lay down my carry-on suitcase. I went back to the front and asked for the same size room as the one I paid for. They then switched me to a room that is slightly bigger. Neither rooms smelled like cigarettes, so I think the first room's cigarette smell was an unusual occurrence.
Also, the hotel's smoking area is right next to the entrance. I had to hold my breath every time I walked through the entrance. Sometimes, the smell crept into the corridors, the lobby, and the elevator. Why is the smoking area in a semi-enclosed space right by the hotel entrance, I don't know.
Lastly, the quality of staff depends on the day. The staff on my first night were quite forgetful, but the staff on my second and third nights knew what they were doing and were very helpful.
There are a lot of things to love about this hotel. It's fairly new, so everything is relatively clean and well-maintained. The laundry is 24/7. The beds are comfortable. I enjoyed the fun art on the hotel room walls. The staff are kind and courteous. Overall, it wasn't a terrible stay. However, I'm not sure if I will stay at this hotel again unless it's cheaper than what I paid for this...

Read moreGarner Kita Semba is an IHG property and so if you are a member, you can get a complimentary check out at 2pm instead of the usual 11am. Overall, the hotel is quite nice, having a large sitting area behind the front desk. It is equipped with a microwave, a toaster, and a coffee maker that is complementary to guests. There are two elevators that work by tapping your room key and then your floor level. These elevators are fast and very responsive. The corridors are nicely cooled. The room looks fairly new with an area that is slightly bigger than a typical APA hotel room. Upon entering the bathroom, there is a strong smell of mildew from the shower curtain. Nguyen at the front desk was very helpful and she came up to put in a new one right away. Towels are new and fluffy and does not smell like it does in some other hotels. New towels are placed at the door everyday. Cleaning is done every three days. The only complaint I have is that the water from the shower head comes out only hot or less hot. Cold water is nonexistent. If you want slightly cool water, you turn the knob to all the way cold and then you turn the volume down to less than half and slightly cool water will come out. Oh, and there are three washing machines and three dryers on the second floor. You should avoid the dryer because someone with strong body odor and/or the hotel not cleaning the dryer properly has made the dryer stinky and your...
