Bocca Buona — Restaurant in Takayama

I visited this restaurant after my search for high reputation Italian. The taste was beyond expectation. As to pasta, when I asked if they can prepare peperoncino, which was not in the menu, the chef nicely accepted if I can wait a bit longer for the unusual preparation. The pizza was excellent, too, especially in the thin and crispy bread base. What is nice is this restaurant does not force us to order main course. We were already satisfied with first plates. As dorce, Sorbe must be the signature, which combined with apple source. Although this Italian restaurant is not the high class in price and wine, the taste and atmosphere is even better than other high class Italian...

Absolutely fabulous. It's just one male chef and a female assistant who run this place and they do a great job ! Needing a change from noodles and rice, we found this restaurant while staying in Takayama. It's not in the old town where everyone gravitates to, but in the opposite direction, past the huge bowling alley and a bit further along. Its not a huge place, but comfortable enough and the good indicator was that locals were there having dinner. A wonderful place for Italian cooking! We had an excellent dinner here. Because we don't speak Japanese the chef who is absolutely nice translated to us the whole menu orally :) we had 2 pizzas, which are Italian style (very thin crust: perfect), both were exquisite. I also had a tiramisu, probably one of the best tiramisus I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot of them...). Price range is 1000-1400¥ for a pizza, other meals 1000-2000¥.
